“Nobody pays attention, then everyone complains that they don’t know what’s going on!”
Stephen has finally realised that no one listens to a word he says. Well, actually, he realised that a few years ago, but now he has decided to fully acknowledge the fact. Therefore, our esteemed Tournament Director has decreed that a PDF be produced, guiding everyone through the ‘World Cup’ Poker Shoot Out at The Old Inn, Dunfermline, this coming Sunday, 11th December, at 6pm. So, here it is:

Ever kindhearted and thoughtful, Stevie has also decreed that someone in much need of a wee shot in the arm for their flagging self-esteem should be selected as the poster boy for this prestigious event. So that explains the Simon as he would’ve looked at the 1978 World Cup picture posted above.
If Bloo asks tell him we really did travel back in time to capture Simon starring for Scotland in another dimension. It was Bloo’s birthday last Wednesday, he’s getting on a bit and it’ll keep him happy. He’s harmless enough really.
If you can’t click on the PDF here’s some of what it says:

| 4 | Entrance Fees | It’ll be the equivalent of a Big Sunday game but paid in full up-front to Stevie. The first 16 players to hand Stevie the money will be given a place. Entrance fees will not be refundable, but they will be transferable, so you can sell your place on to someone else should you find yourself double-booked or whatever. |
| 5 | The Draw | Just like a real World Cup, controversial seeding systems will be used to fix the draw. The draw will take place in public. |
| 6 | Phases | The ‘World Cup’ Poker Shoot Out is based on 1978 and it’s often forgotten that the 1978 World Cup in Argentina had two group phases and then a final, with no semis. Our ‘World Cup’ Shoot Out will be similar. Four groups of four players will play short-handed until the bottom two are eliminated on each table. Then all chips will be reset to 5,000 again before the second group phase of two tables of four players gets under way. Again two players per table will be eliminated with the four remaining players qualifying for the final table of four. Again, all chips will be reset to 5,000 before the final table play begins. |
| 7 | Chips and Time Limits | Chips will be reset to 5,000 at the start of each and every round. Blinds will be quicker than usual, starting at 10 minutes, and each round should last no more than two hours including breaks. The Tournament Director will adjust blinds as the tournament progresses to give players optimum playing time and will warn tables of impending time limits. Any table not resolved in time will be decided by a chip count or one deciding hand (if chips are tied). |
| 8 | Phases and Blinds | There will be three phases. Each phase will be sit-and-go (no re-buy, no add-on) with 5,000 starting chips and 10 minute starting blinds (timing subject to the Tournament Director’s discretion) as follows:
